The Camera Module 3 is a new camera module that can be used with the little computer. The new module supports high dynamic range photography and is more important than the new sensor. The new camera board is for use with M12 mounts.

The Camera Module 3 should be able to focus on objects as small as 5 cm, thanks to the new features. The Phase Detection Autofocus system is used with the contrast Detection Autofocus system. The previous versions of the camera module had fixed focus, which made it difficult to take a sharp picture of objects.

The new module has a higher resolution sensor and should be able to film high definition video. The Camera Module 3 can take several exposures of the same scene, and combine them so that both dark and light parts of an image are properly exposed.

The Camera Module 3 with a standard field-of-view costs $25 and the ultra-wide angle version costs $35. Night photography modules are designed for this purpose.

There is a new version of the High Quality Camera module that supports M12-mount lens that the company is announcing. The Sony IMX477 sensor is the same as before, but the module now supports the fisheye and other specialist lens that are designed for M12 systems.

A colleague of mine used to make her own camera using the High Quality Camera module that was previously used. Her project can be found here.
