During President Joe Biden's visit to the border, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said the state needed more money to address the issue.
After meeting with Biden, Abbott took questions from reporters which one asked if he planned to ask the federal government to send Texas more funds to address the historic surge in illegal immigration.
It's one hundred percent. Texas needs more money. The Republicans in the US House are going to give Texas the money it needs. Over the last two years, we have spent 4 billion of Texas taxpayer dollars to fill the gap caused by the Biden administration.

Abbott wants the federal government to reimburse the state for its border efforts. The Border Patrol encountered 1.7 million migrants attempting to cross the US-Mexico border illegally from October 2020 to October 2021.
Texas has spent millions of dollars on chartering buses to drop off migrants in other parts of the country without giving those cities any notice.
The Texas Tribune reported that Texas had spent $12 million on the effort. The amount of money spent on busing migrants out of state increased by 20 million dollars by November.
Abbott's office didn't reply immediately.
