Stephen A. is giddy over Cowboys' ugly loss to Commanders (1:18)

The Cowboys lost to the Commanders in Week 18. There is a time and a place for it.

10:25 PM ET

The Dallas Cowboys entered Sunday with hopes of a second straight division title and the chance to move up to one of the top two seeds in theNFC.

Jerry Jones said that they would suck on that all week. Nothing else will make you want to go in about a week. We're going to find out if that thorough butt-kicking will get you ready or not. With what these guys are made, it should be that way.

The Cowboys had their worst loss of the season in Week 1 when they were beaten 19-3. If the Cowboys want to advance in the playoffs, they will have to beat Brady.

He has a perfect record against Dallas, winning seven times in the past two years.

"As a team, we can come back and take this nightmare, whatever you want to call it, and turn it into a positive," Jones said. We didn't have to look over there at the Philadelphia and San Francisco games to see if we messed up.

The Cowboys would have secured the top seed in the playoffs with a win over Washington. The performance by Dallas against the Commanders was terrible.

The Dallas side of the field was the site of two turnovers by the special teams. The Dallas defense was average, allowing over 150 yards rushing on 41 attempts and only one pick up.

The offense was really bad.

The quarterback threw for a career-worst 37.8% of his passes and was picked off 15 times. Even though he missed five games due to thumb surgery, the fact that he had 15 picks was the most in the league. For the third time in the past four games, he had an pick six.

"For me, it's s---ty," the man said. Simple as that, not to use the language.

McCarthy was a little bit more open minded.

McCarthy said there was more going on. This isn't about one person. It's not possible to look at our performance and blame one person. There's plenty to do.

The Cowboys converted just four of 18 third-down opportunities. The second-worst showing was in the loss to the Buccaneers, where the team was able to convert just 3 of 15 third-down opportunities.

"This one won't last," he said. It's easy to go back and look at what we've done, especially since we haven't done anything in the last 16 games. When we have a performance like this, we have to individually look at it, take accountability, learn from it and then understand when the plane touches down.

They are known to us. It's going to be a good one, I've played them twice.
