Jets Rumors: Lamar Jackson, Jimmy Garoppolo, Derek Carr to Be Targeted by NYJ

The New York Jets are going to pursue a veteran quarterback this off-season, according to SNY'sConnor Hughes.

Lamar Jackson is a "wild card" if he becomes available since the Baltimore Ravens are expected to use their franchise tag on him.

"If Lamar Jackson is available, and the Ravens are willing to listen to offers, the Jets will do everything they can to position themselves to make a very, very compelling offer for him," Hughes said.

Massive instability at the quarterback position has caused New York to find itself in this situation. There was a regression in Wilson's development and he was benched many times. Mike White wasn't the long-term answer when he got injured. Joe Flacco is nearing the end of his career and started Sunday's loss against the Miami Dolphins.

After starting the season with a 7-4 record, the Jets lost their last six games. New York has talented players on both sides of the ball who have proven to be building blocks for the future, but the lack of a reliable signal- caller is an issue that looms over the team.

Adding a player like Jackson can change the entire outlook of the team. The New York Knicks will be aggressive in their search for a player to lead the offense because they want to end the team's playoff streak in three years.

The Jets have a team that they think is ready to compete. If Lamar Jackson is available on the trade market, they will pay a lot to get someone like him.
