Liam said on Sunday that he will start treatment on Monday.

He said in his statement that he was determined to overcome the challenge with the same determination he used when facing other obstacles.

The team is "optimistic" that Rick Hahn will pitch again, according to a statement released by the senior vice president and general manager.

In a major league career that started in 2011, Hendriks has played for the Minnesota Twins, Toronto Blue Jays, Kansas City Royals, Oakland A's, and WhiteSox.

His resume includes three All-Star selections.

He was an All-Star in each of the two seasons he was with the team. He is scheduled for free agency in 2025.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today reported earlier in the year that the White Sox were going to keep Hendriks even though they might be listening to trade offers.

Hendriks will focus on his health in the immediate future now that he has been diagnosed.
