Hakeem Jeffries thinks he can have a better relationship with Kevin McCarthy than Nancy Pelosi did.

Jeffries said during an interview that they can agree to disagree without being disagreeable.

The House minority leader said he and McCarthy, who was elected speaker after five days of voting and 15 ballots early Saturday morning, have had some positive forward looking conversations in the past few weeks.

If McCarthy is willing to find common ground with House Democrats, they will find willing partners.

During their time in the House, Pelosi and McCarthy took jabs at one another. Pelosi called McCarthy a "moron" after he criticized a mask mandate for Congress. McCarthy joked that it would be difficult to hit Pelosi with the gavel if he became speaker.
