According to sources, the Philadelphia Eagles will start Hurts at quarterback against the New York Giants.
An injury to Hurts' throwing shoulder has kept him out of the past two games for the Eagles. If the Cowboys and 49ers lose, the Eagles will get the top seed in the playoffs and a first-round bye.
It wastrending in the right direction for Hurts to start against the Giants. Hurts was limited in all three of the Eagles' practices.
Hurts has thrown for 3,472 yards and 22 touchdown Randall Cunningham had a franchise record of 35 total touchdown
The Giants will play a wild-card game next weekend if they beat the Vikings or the 49ers.
The Giants have not made a decision on resting quarterback Daniel Jones and running back Saquon Barkley for the game against the Eagles, according to the coach.
It will be the first career start for the third-round pick of the Giants, who has never attempted a pass in a regular season game. He played for the Jets and Bills before rejoining the Giants.
The New York Post reported that the Giants were going to start a new player. Tyrod Taylor is going to be the backup.
When asked if he volunteered to start so Jones could rest, he laughed and said he wouldn't.
