The next major update for the iPhone could be a less significant update than Apple was hoping for.

For several years, Apple has been working on a headset and OS called xrOS. According to Mark Gurman, Apple's engineers have been less focused on other operating systems since the launch of the headset.

According to Gurman in his latest Power On newsletter, Apple's focus on xrOS for the upcoming headset could result in less major changes in the upcoming version of the operating system. Gurman claims that a similar approach is being taken with macOS 14.

New features in stock apps like Maps and Safari, as well as a redesign of the Home Screen, were some of the changes brought about by the two major updates.
