Kay'Ana Adams was fired from her job as an Alabama firefighter because of her tattoo. Adams was fired from her job at the Mobile Fire Department Maryvale station.

There is a tattoo on the back of the firefighter's head. The fire department does not allow tattoos on the face or neck.

During and after I had neck tattoos more prominent than mine, the hiring of people before, during and after me had an impact on the station. I thought mine could be done in an orderly fashion. The rules allow me to cover it up.

Adams was in trouble when someone complained about her ink.

She said that she was in violation of policy after being investigated for it.

Adams was given the option to grow her hair out or hide her tattoo. She said she did what she was told to do.

Adams said there was a complaint about her hair being grown out and violating the policy.

Adams is a black woman. How long does it take for my hair to grow?

The policy was changed three months after she got her tattoo. The tattoos above the neckline are not allowed.

Adams was terminated from her job after a photo of her back was taken. On the day of the photo's taking, Adams said she was fired.

I didn't think it would come to this, I was in compliance. Adams said that he is not breaking any laws or anything like that because he has a tattoo on his body. Work in front of me shouldn't be affected by what's behind me.

Adams said she was fired because of her tattoos and hair. She believes she was terminated because she spoke up about her concerns at work.

Two male firefighters at her station made sexist statements to the Alabama woman.

During a training session, Adams once again raised concerns.

She said that it was rope week and a decent amount of people and the other half of the classroom were discussing. I told you if you want to learn how to do that, you should do it on your free time.

Adams told the Captains that she was a member of the Black Progressive Firefighters Association.

Adams was defended by the two captains who were disciplined. Shoots was fired.

Shoots was terminated for attempting to obstruct a valid order from a superior officer, ignoring orders and using disrespectful and defiant language to a superior officer, according to a statement from the public safety director.

Craig was suspended for 30 days for insubordination, failure to follow orders from a superior officer and failure to investigate, document and report a violation of the policy.
