The biggest tech trade show in North America is in full gear in Las Vegas and drawing lots of people.

I was looking for the cool tech. Around 80 press events, interviews, and sessions were recorded prior to the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Over the course of five days, I walked more than 38 miles. I walked over 84,385 steps at the Consumer Electronics Show.

43 stories were written by me. Two interviews were given by me. One panel was moderated. The soles of my feet were hurting.

Want must read news straight to your inbox?

It's time to make sense of this. Since the show continues through Sunday there is still time for techies to check it out themselves. There was a list of things I wanted to see at the Consumer Electronics Show last year.

In-person attendance dropped from 4,000 in 2020 to 4,000 this year. I dragged my roller bag all over the place and it saved me from slippery floors three times. There are eighteen things that caught my attention.

Unistellar telescope reduces light pollution with AI

The Unistellar telescope reduces light pollution in the night sky.

I haven't written about the technology in telescopes in a long time. The tech was always up to date, like telling you what constellation you were looking at. Night Sky can give you that information. Unistellar has a telescope that uses machine learning to reduce the blurriness you see when there is too much light pollution.

I was told by the head of communication at the company that city lights are the biggest roadblock to seeing stars. People head into the wilderness to use their telescopes. Artificial intelligence can improve the image processing and reduce the light pollution that makes it hard to see in the night. You can see stars from a downtown location with the help of an app. This is an example of how artificial intelligence can end up in places you don't think it will. There is a version on display that costs $2,500. The company began delivery of telescopes in 2019. It now has 50 people.

CarbonX makes better tires for electric cars

CarbonX CEO and cofounder Rutger van Raalten.

The Responsible Tech booth was part of the startup section at the show. The CarbonX was started by Rutger van Raalten from the Netherlands.

For the past 15 years, a chemical engineer has been exploring carbon structures and using them to come up with a tire infused with a carbon black material. There is a 10% extension in a tire's rolling resistance. It mixes the carbon material into rubber to get better heat transfer, which results in less friction for the tire, while preserving its ability to adapt to the road.

According to van Raalten, the new car material has a unique three-dimensional network structure that they are mixing in the tread of the tire. The tire roll can be made more efficient and the strength provided. The properties can be used at the same time. Electric vehicles become heavier and faster to drive.

750,000 tires will be made with the material developed by CarbonX when the company launches with a customer inFinland. The company plans to raise funds in order to execute those orders.

The material can be used to make tires for electric vehicles. The structures are at the millimeter level. He spent the last 15 years developing the product under a license from the university, after finishing a master's thesis on this. The company is raising money.

L’Oreal Brow Magic prints eyebrows on your face

L’Oreal Brow Magic prints eyeliner on your eyebrows.

The Brow Magic device can be used to print eyeliner on your eyebrows. You can use the Brow Magic app to pick the shape you want.

Normally, temporary tattoos are printed on your skin. The printing device has 2,400 tiny nozzles and printing resolution up to 1,200dpi.

You can use augmented reality to select brow designs. You can use a printer to print makeup on someone's eyebrow. Water and soap can be used to remove it. It reminds me of the Opte tech from P&G.

L’Oreal’s Hapta makes putting on lipstick more accessible.

If you take a picture of your face with Brow Magic, it will know where your eyes and eyebrows are. You are presented with recommendations. The printer prints on your hair after you swiped it over your face.

L'oreal showed off Hapta, a device that helps people with disabilities. It is a kind of stick that can be used to take selfies. If you have limited motor skills, it's possible to use it. Sometime this year, the Hapta device will be launched.

OneThird checks produce for ripeness

A third of the food is thrown away. Grocers or grocery store shoppers can use theripeness checker. They don't need to squeeze to get accurate information about when it's ready to eat.

One-third of all food produced is wasted due to spoilage, costing up to $1 trillion. Marco Snikkers, founder of OneThird, said that the solution helps end- consumers get the freshest food and allows growers, food distributors and grocers to predict the shelf life of fresh produce. The device is powered by artificial intelligence.

Grocers and distributors are the main targets. Grocers could offer it inside stores as a service for consumers once those parties adopted it. The product can test some fruits and vegetables, but it's not easy to assess for freshness. Snikkers said the company will add bananas as they are prone to go bad.

Customers say they have the most financial loss in these areas. They have a short shelf life which can cause surprise in the supply chain.

The device is designed for business-to-business customers so it can be used in quality labs for everyone. The devices can be placed in grocery stores to give shoppers confidence in the freshness of their produce. If you wait a couple of days, you can find out if you should eat the fruit.

The company is building a database so it can keep an eye on the changes over time. The device uses a light source to measure something. Light penetrating into the produce and capturing data on the molecule in the product The balance of those molecule changes over time.

Once we know the ratios of those, we can look at our database and use our artificial intelligence to give us a prediction of shelf life.

What can growers do with it? It could take five days to ship strawberries from the west coast to the east coast. It is better to ship it to a local place if it goes bad before that time.

Four years ago, the company spun out of a medical company.

Hasbro and Formlabs put your head on a toy with Hasbro Selfie Series

The Hasbro Selfie Series at CES 2023.

The experience has been soft launch for a while, but is now kicking off in a big way. It allows you to put your head on a toy. The ones are six inches tall.

At the Formlabs 3D printing booth, David and Patrick walked me through a demonstration.

You can use the app to match your face to an action figure based on a partner's property. It's possible to put your head on a toy character. Spider-Man, a Jedi, a Stormtrooper, a Power Ranger, and GI Joe's Snake Eyes are just some of the characters you can choose.

The toys take 45 days to be shipped. The toys are made from 3D printers purchased by the company. It mounts your head on a toy using a manufacturing process. It took me a while to do the Scan.

Marr wanted it to be crisp and clean. Seven different skin tones and five different hair colors were created by Formlabs.

Fourteen figures are available now. Marr believes that fans want to engage with their favorite characters. It's similar to cosplayers. It plays into the culture that is sweeping through industries now. The quality of the 3D printers is so good that they can make a likeness at a low price.

Withings U-Scan runs a urinalysis via your home toilet

Withings' U-Scan lets you do urinalysis at home.
Withings’ U-Scan lets you do urinalysis at home.

U- Scan is a breakthrough product that allows you to do urinalysis at home. People made fun of this as pointless, since it would only benefit people who want to measure everything about themselves.

I think this will benefit people who have to deal with medical conditions. You don't have to go to the doctor or a lab to pee for medical tests if you use this service.

The U-Scan is a small health lab that sits in a toilet bowl to give you health information in your urine. Withings said that urine is an amazing witness to assess and monitor one's health. It gives an immediate snapshot of the body's balance and is an important part of monitoring and detecting health information.

You can't pay much attention to these results. You can be tested frequently and not have to worry. You will want to know about any changes.

The U-Scan platform is designed to be a versatile platform consisting of a technologically advanced pebble-shaped reader and changeable analysis cartridges. It will provide a wealth of actionable insights based on daily readings.

The product will be available in Europe in two different formats. There is a detailed guide to hydration and nutrition included in these.

The Withings U- Scan won't be available in the US until it gets FDA approval.

Results, actionable insights, and guidance are provided by the Withings app. In Europe, the Withings app will become a central place for cycle tracking, coaching, and journal writing.

It will show cycle predictions and ovulation window based on hormones, hydration, and gravity, and help women manage their cycles.

The U- Scan will be available in Europe in the second quarter of 2023. The U-Scan starter kit will cost 499.95 and provide three months of testing.

Sony Afeela electric car comes with an Unreal Engine

The Sony Afeela will start shipping in 2026.

The Sony Honda Mobility car will be called the Afeela. It will be powered by technology from several companies.

The car will be connected to the cloud, according to the CEO. The car will need a lot of processing power to make sense of all the sensors it has. The company will give Unreal Engine 5 to help render the cluster.

The game engine in the car will serve as a kind of operation system to render the in-car features.

The car will be available for pre-order in the first half of the 20th century. The Sony design touch will be apparent in the car.

Y-Brush is the 10-second toothbrush

The Y-Brush can brush all your teeth at once.

It takes just 10 seconds for Y-Brush to clean your teeth. Y-Brush can be used to brush all of your teeth at once. There was a demo of the brush at the show.

There is a Y shaped brush head. The product comes from a dental startup in France. The company worked on it for a long time.

Y-Brush uses sound to remove plaque without damaging your teeth. The company said that the pressure can be adjusted using different modes to ensure more efficient results.

It's ideal for kids over four years old. It takes about three months for the battery to last. The bristles can be changed about once a year. I think this is a good idea, as lazy people are the root of invention.

Displace is a wireless and remoteless TV

Displace is a TV that has no wires and you can stick anywhere it will hang.

There is a television that has no wires and can be placed anywhere in the house.

The Displace 4k TV is the first model shown off. It is powered by a proprietary hot swappable battery system.

If you want to hang it on a wall or window, you can use Displace TV's active-loop vacuum technology, which can be mounted on any surface.

I was shown how easy it was to carry by the CEO. Many TVs need professional help to mount on walls and they can't use their old remote controls. Displace has a camera that can be used to control the TV with gestures.

The Displace TV uses wireless hot swappable batteries for power.

You can use a gesture to grab a video and throw it to another TV if you have multiple TVs.

It can be used to form any size TV.

The camera can be turned off for privacy reasons as well. The TV is large. It has up to four batteries that can be swapped out, with each battery lasting a month on average.

Krishnan told VentureBeat that this delivers a lot of value to consumers. The base unit has a processor and a graphics card. The TVs will be available for purchase in the U.S. by the end of the decade.

Krishnan has three startups. He was the founder of two companies, one of which was acquired by a public company.

Krishnan said it was difficult to find the right spot for the TV with the power sockets. People don't want to see displays on the walls as they are getting bigger. The TVs have to be installed on the wall of the room. People will be displaying multiple smart displays on their walls in the future. They should be able to move quickly.

He said that the first thing they had to do was a wireless TV. The second thing was to make it light so people could stick it to the wall.

Aska flying car

Aska has created a flying car.
Aska has created a flying car.

At the Consumer Electronics Show, Aska showed off its first drive-and-fly electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft. The event was canceled due to the batteries not arriving on time.

The prototype of the Aska A5 electric flying car is the size of a big SUV and it can travel up to 250 miles on a single charge. It flies in the air.

The Aska On-Demand ride service will feature a fleet of Aska vehicles and will operate in major cities.

Pre-order Flying Car as a Service Aska A5 An on-demand ride-sharing service is being developed by the company.

Minimum updates are required for Aska. A helipad or vertiport is required for a vertical take-off or landing. The vehicle fits in existing parking spaces, it can be charged at home and EV charging stations, and it runs on premium gasoline.

The Aska A5 is powered by a proprietary power system that includes a gasoline engine and battery packs.

In drive mode, Aska has in-wheel motor technology that allows all four wheels to be placed outside the fuselage for all-wheel-drive traction and maximized interior space to comfortably seat four passengers.

Flying mode allows the vehicle to either take off vertically or do a conventional runway takeoff. The large wing is designed to be used for gliding, smooth landings, and efficient energy consumption.

It's possible for Aska to take off from a small space. The vehicle's energy consumption efficiency can be improved by using a runway.

Safety has always been the biggest disappointment about flying cars. The vehicle designed by Aska is the highest quality. In the case of an emergency, the large wings of Aska can glide the craft to a safe landing. Both batteries and an engine are present in Aska. The six propellers on each wing make it easier to land safely.

A minimum of 30 minutes reserve flight time is a requirement by the Federal Aviation Administration. A parachute is included in case of an emergency to save the plane.

Aska signed a Space Act Agreement with NASA in 2020 in order to take part in the Advanced Air Mobility National Campaign. The FAA accepted Aska through their intake board in the year 2022. Flight testing will begin after the show.

Candela’s electric boat flies through the air.

The C-8 consumer boat was shown off by Candela. The P-12 electric hydrofoil ferry is a sister to the electric vehicle that rides above the waves.

The production version of the iChassis, a hydrogen-powered semi and five new electric vehicles will be unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show. It seems like a boat on stilts.

Candela’s electric vehicle hydrofoil boat.

The company has zero emissions, zero noise, zero maintenance, zero gas and oil, and zero wake.

The C-POD electric motor, which stays submerged while running, further eliminates noise and vibration onboard. The boats are designed to run for a long time.

The archipelago has a local fuel dock for buying ice cream for children. The ice cream cost $5 and the fuel cost $50, so the problem was that they couldn't afford it. He realized that buying an electric boat wasn't an option as the fast ones didn't have much range. We had to change how boats are designed.

Candela rises on air above the water and only its motors are underwater.

The P-8 Voyager skims across the surface at 30 knots as it flies on computer-guided underwater wings. The P-8 has unprecedented electric range and speed thanks to its energy efficiency. This also means zero wake erosion, which is a threat in shallow waters.

The electric speedboat is powered by a motor. There are two electric motor that drive the propellers. The Candela C-POD is hard to hear in the human ear.

Space Perspective designs space balloon with help of digital twin

Jane Poynter is cofounder of Space Perspective.

Space Perspective wants to give space tourists a ride to the edge of space by attaching vehicles to giant space balloons. The company sold out its initial reservations in less than a year.

Space Perspective believes that you can enjoy the thrill of space exploration without having to endure a multi-g-force ride on a rocket. A balloon the size of a football stadium will take you to the edge of the atmosphere, 20 miles above the earth. The view of Earth from space can be seen in the pictures you take there.

The use of design technology for a digital twin is helping to perfect the design in the digital without requiring the company to create a lot of costly physical prototypes.

It will be the first space launch operator to launch from Space Coast Spaceport with a total of nine people on board.

The balloon's capsule will have seats and a bar, and tourists will be able to see it at the booth. A space balloon the size of a football stadium can give you a panoramic view of planet Earth.

Space Perspective is the brainchild of Poynter and Taber MacCallum, a husband and wife team who met as crew members of Biosphere 2 to test the viability of maintaining human life in outer space. The couple founded a human life support systems company that created technologies used on most human spaceships, including the International Space Station, and they acted as technical advisors to Musk on human spaceflight.

Space Perspective will give you a gentle ride to the edge of space.
Space Perspective will give you a gentle ride to the edge of space.

In an interview, the chief marketing officer and head of strategy for the company said that the company's software is being used to test for safety systems and other things.

She said that digital twins will fit with the metaverse visions because they need more partners.

The company is providing a lot of manufacturing and mechanical engineering expertise as a result of its partnership with the company. There are several digital twin projects in the works. BMW is going to build a fake car factory in the real world. At its booth, the company showcased projects from 80 acres farms.

Passengers on the Spaceship Neptune will be immersed for two hours in the view of the Earth below. 99% of the Earth's atmosphere will be cleared by the ship. The air in the balloon expands 100 times when it floats in the last 1% of the atmosphere. It's better than being in a rocket.
