Delta will be the first airline in the US to offer free internet. Only one of the 10 largest US airlines offers free internet. All of Hawaiian Airlines' transoceanic routes will have free internet this year.
The free service will be offered on more than 700 aircraft by the end of the year. International and regional aircraft will have free internet by the end of the year.

Delta's announcement, made Thursday in conjunction with a presentation by CEO Ed Bastian at theCES technology conference in Las Vegas, brings to fruition a goal the carrier has discussed for years The first limited trial of free internet was done by Delta. The airline conducted exploratory tests with the Starlink service, which will be used for its free internet.
Delta chose to work with T-Mobile on the free service.
Delta will use its free internet to create a new personalized entertainment experience called Delta sync. SkyMiles members will be able to use Delta sync this summer.
Delta Sync users will get personalized recommendations for their in-flight entertainment similar to what they get at home.
Real-time seatback flight notifications, exclusive deals in partnership with other consumer brands, and food and beverage ordering in first class will be offered by Delta sync.
What it means to be a SkyMiles member is going to be elevated by Delta sync.
He said that the future of travel is one where your digital and physical experiences come together in a seamless warm and personal way.
Delta wants to provide free internet on international and regional flights in the year 2041.
