1. Surfer’s Beach

It wouldn't make sense to think of The Bahamas as a surfing destination like California or Hawaii. Surfing in The Bahamas is often ideal due to the fact that many of the islands feature a shoreline near the North Atlantic Ocean. Surfer's Beach is located on Eleuthera and is a unique surfing experience.

The beach is two miles south of Gregory Town and has a cute beach shack built out of wood. Caribbean islands are known for their white sand shoreline.

During the months of September and February, the optimum surfing conditions at Surfer's Beach can be found. During the time of year when the trade winds are strongest, the surf action on the island's windward coast increases. Unless you go to the northern end of the beach, snorkeling is not recommended due to the high surf.

2. Junkanoo Beach

Junkanoo Beach makes up for it's lack of privacy and seclusion by being convenient and exciting. The city of Nassau is located on the island of New Providence. It is the largest island in the country with more visitors every year than any other island.

The city's cruise port is the busiest in the country and the beach is very popular with springbreakers. The beach can get a bit crowded. This might not be the beach for you if you want to be isolated. As it attracts more people than other beaches, there are more things to do. Junkanoo Beach is close to a number of popular bars.

The clear blue waters at this beach are a delight to behold.

This beach, named after the line of latitude that crosses the island at this point, is a stretch of white sand and turquoise waters that The Bahamas is known for. It is one of the prettiest beaches in the whole archipelago. It is possible to swim at the northern border of the tropics.

The stairway leading to the sand is a good place to take pictures. While the beach doesn't offer any amenities, it does offer a level of peace and privacy that can't be beat.

4. Dean’s Blue Hole Beach

Dean's Blue Hole is located off the shores of Long Island in The Central Bahamas. The archipelago is home to a large amount of blue holes due to the fact that the islands are made of porous limestone rock.

One of Long Island's more attractive beaches and one of the best beaches in The Bahamas can be found on the other side of the island. Most of the beaches on The Bahamas' family islands do not offer much in the way of amenities.

The road leading to Dean's Blue Hole Beach is just off Queen's Highway, which is the longest road on the island. The best way to travel along it is in a 4wd. It is not a good idea to swim near the edge of the blue hole if you are a strong swimmer.

5. Fortune Beach

Fortune Beach is located in the city of Freeport on the island of Grand Bahama. It is said that a million dollar wreck was found off the island's coast. It is perfect for beach activities like kite surfing.

The true appeal of this beach is found at low tide when a sand bar just feet from the shore allows visitors to sunbathe on their own small private island.

6. Pink Sands Beach

Pink sand beaches are not as common as powdery white sand beaches, but they are still attractive. Pink Sands Beach is the most well-known of them. It is one of the best beaches in The Bahamas and offers visitors a unique experience that is exceptional.

The turquoise Bahamian seas meet the speckled- pink sand to create a unique occurrence that makes it one of the country's most popular beaches. It is possible to ride a horse along the beach's shores.

It is possible to take a ferry from North Eleuthera to Harbour Island. Harbour Island can be busy during the months of November through March. The best place to avoid the crowds is Pink Sands Beach.

While an SUV is not required, walking shoes are recommended to cross the dirt road which connects the highway to the beach.

8. Gaulding Cay Beach

The peace of mind that is offered by a stroll along this beach is peerless. It is a calm alternative to the beaches on Eleuthera's rugged Atlantic coast.

Daddy Joe's is a popular beach bar on one of the family islands of The Bahamas.

9. Long Bay Beach

The Long Bay Beach is a perfect example of picturesque enchantment. The town of Long Bay is named after the long boats that Christopher Columbus and his crew landed in. Columbus is thought to have first landed in the "New World" at Long Bay Beach.

There are many monuments to commemorate the Columbus landing at the beach site. Snorkelers can treat themselves to an underwater monument which is believed to be where Columbus dropped anchor. The International Olympic Committee built a monument on the beach that held the Olympic torch on its way from Greece to Mexico for the 1968 Summer Olympic Games.
