The Washington Commanders have lost four games in a row and are out of playoff contention.
Sam Fortier of the Washington Post spoke with a number of players who are unhappy with the way the season has gone.
Nine other Commanders, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to be candid about a coach, were frustrated with the play-calling. Turner's tendency to deviate from plays that are working, as well as his abandonment of the game plan against Cleveland, were some of the complaints. The loss to the Browns ended the Commanders' season.
When asked why the team lacked a spark during the most recent defeat, an unnamed veteran said: "Ask the play-caller."
The tight end said the team should be scoring more points because of the talent on the team.
I think we should be scoring more points than we have so far.

Robinson ran for 89 yards on 12 carries. The second-worst run defense in football made it seem like Washington could have kept feeding Robinson the rock more often.
Robinson told reporters later in the week that he couldn't coach. Regardless of how I feel about certain plays, I just have to be where my feet are.
The players blamed Turner for the loss.
Several players argued that Turner had abandoned the game plan, which the team had practiced all week, in favor of drop-back passing and running concepts. In two- and three-tight end sets, Washington ran the ball 21 of 26 times and the Cleveland defense was one of the worst in the league.
According to Football Outsiders, the offense is ranked 28th. Since the first two weeks of the year, the team has scored less than 23 points once.
Turner isn't the only one to be blamed.
According to Football Outsiders, the offensive line ranks 10th-worst in the league in adjusted sack rate, due to poor pass- blocking.
The high of a 5-1 stretch under Taylor Heinecke was the high of the quarterback play. The team has averaged less than 200 passing yards per game in the last three weeks.
The team has plenty of talent on the offensive side of the ball, with the two-headed running back tandem of Robinson and Antonio Gibson, as well as a few other dynamic pass-catchings in Jahan Dotson and Curtis Samuel.
The offense didn't come through when it was needed the most, and now the rookies will get a chance to show what they can do against the Cowboys.
