I recently shared my first impressions from my flight. There is a way to get the best seats without paying extra, and I wanted to write a post about it.
There are fully flat seats in business class on the Austrian Airlines Boeings. The position of seats in each row is determined by this. Each seat has space to the side of the seat in front, which is intended to be efficient.
In practice, that looks like it.
The majority of seats are in pairs, whether sitting in the center section or by the windows.
There are two seats in every other row that are known asthrone seats. I like these seats because of their privacy and the fact that you have a window view.
The footwells are small, given that they use the space between the seats in front. It's a small price to pay for the benefits.
Austrian Boeing 767s have the same seats, but there are no thrones as the cabin is not as wide. Business class seats are in a 1-2-1 configuration.
How do you assign an Austrian Airlines throne seat? If you don't have elite status with Miles & More, you'll have to pay extra. You can expect it to cost more than $150. It is steep.
You may be tempted to book these seats if you know that 7A and 7K can be assigned at no extra cost. That isn't the case. These seats don't have the same amount of space as other seats in the same row.
Do you want to sit in an Austrian Airlines throne seat but don't want to pay more for it? There is some positive news. Business class passengers can assign their seats at no extra cost once online check-in opens.
While business class was full, most of the throne seats were empty, and I had my pick of them when I checked in around 36 hours before I left.
It is not certain that throne seats will always be available, but at least that is what I have experienced.
Business class passengers can assign their throne seats for a fee if they so choose. If you want to assign one of these seats for free, just check-in online as early as possible, as these seats are free on a first come, first serve basis.
