With the New York Giants locked in as the No. 6 seed in the playoffs, head coach Brian Daboll is planning to rest several key players during Sunday's regular season finale against the Philadelphia Eagles.

According to Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post, neither running back Saquon Barkley nor quarterback Daniel Jones are expected to play, while other notable starters such as defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence and offensive tackle Andrew Thomas could also be held out.

Leonard Williams and Azeez Ojulari are both out for the game due to injury.

The Giants don't have much to play for on Sunday, but the Eagles want to secure the No. 1 seed in the playoffs and home field advantage throughout.

Things are in question after back-to-back losses the past two weeks because of the absence of injured quarterback Hurts.

A win by the Eagles on Sunday will allow them to seal the deal, but a loss will allow the Cowboys to claim the division title. If the Eagles lose to the Giants, the Cowboys and 49ers will still be in the playoffs.

After being limited in practice all week, Hurts is questionable to play in Week 18.

Even if Hurts can't play, the Eagles will be a big favorite against the Giants.

The Giants were able to return to the playoffs for the first time in two years thanks to the play of running backs Saquon and Jones.

The Giants' culture change was aided by the hiring of a head coach and a general manager away from the Buffalo Bills.

In his first year in the league, Barkley won the offensive rookies of the year award with 2,028 yards from scrimmage and 15 touchdown runs.

The next three seasons were plagued by injuries and he was unable to return to his previous level of play.

He was named to the Pro Bowl for the second time in his career after rushing for 1,312 yards and 10 touchdown this season.

Jones is not a Pro Bowler but he made a strong case for himself in leading the Giants to a 96-1 record. His 3,205 passing yards and 15 touchdown may leave something to be desired, but he completed a career-high 67.2% of his passes and threw a career-low five picks.

He has been one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks in the league this season, rushing for 708 yards and seven scores.

If Jones does sit, veteran backup Tyrod Taylor will get the start at quarterback, while Matt Breida and Gary Brightwell will get a bigger workload out of the backfield.
