The third most popular line of trucks in America, the Dodge Ram, is going to be an EV line.

An official Ram production model will be announced in the coming months, with details to be introduced in the coming months, according to a press release.

It is unlikely that the name "Ram 1500 Revolution" has anything to do with the actual revolution that took place in the Spanish city of Granada in the year 1500.

Regardless of whether or not this truck is truly "revolutionary," the competition has already devoured Dodge, so Stellantis had to go big with its flagship EV pickup. The F-150 was produced last year. In the coming months, the Chevy Silverado EV will be in production. The 800-pound gorilla in the room, theTesla Cybertruck, is about to go into production this year, and Dodge was looking a little behind the times.

Dodge is going to come out swinging. Ford and Chevy EV pickup are mostly in line with our idea of what a big pickup should be. Ram hasn't gone full Cybertruck, but it has stuck out its neck a bit more than its competitors, presenting a hi-tech looking design that clearly marks this as something other than just another Ram. According to the press release, the 1500 Revolution's designers wanted to change the pickup truck segment by creating an ultra-modern concept. That's a good sign.

The new Ram concept has many features and doohic keys. There is an in-car personal assistant with voice commands, a proprietary trip-planning system, and button-activated Cabin Modes.

Shadow Mode is a concept that allows the driver to exit their truck and walk with the un-piloted truck inching along behind them.

The design is meant to say something. The promise in the 1500 Revolution's press materials that this "points directly to where we're going on our electrified journey" is obvious.
