The blind are getting help from a Korean startup. At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the company showed off some pretty neat tech that uses optical and Lidar technology along with artificial intelligence to help with navigation.

The company claims to be able to do advanced object identification in order to keep walkers safe. Users don't have to use their hands to carry the system on a belt.

Guidi was shown off at the Consumer Electronics Show. The image was created by Haje Kamps.

The initial work on the product will begin in January 2020 and the first prototypes will be built in mid- 2021. The company told us that it is hoping to be able to incorporate an 8-hour battery life and full autonomy even in situations where cellular data isn't available.

As soon as we saw the promo image of the company, we knew we had to share it because it was one of the weird and wonderful things we found.

Guidi is going to be marketed later this month, according to the company.
