Even if the punishment is delayed, you can still be punished for peeing on your fellow airline passengers.
A few days ago I wrote about a woman who said she was urinated on while travelling in Air India business class. The woman claims that a man who appeared drunk walked to her seat and exposed himself after the lunch service ended.
The crew didn't seem to pay attention to the situation. The urinating man wasn't reprimanded by the crew, but the woman was told to sit in her urine soaked seat.
The incident happened in late November of 2022. The traveler went to the media because she said she tried to get a resolution with Air India, but they didn't take the situation seriously.
There is a new update to this story.
An executive at Wells Fargo was fired on Friday. The vice president of operations in India was terminated. The company made a statement.
“Wells Fargo holds employees to the highest standards of professional and personal behavior and we find these allegations deeply disturbing. This individual has been terminated from Wells Fargo.”
He is facing more consequences than just being fired. Air India has filed a criminal complaint against him. Police weren't able to find him until now.
He tried to escape by turning off his phone, but the police were able to track him because he had used his credit card. The deputy commissioner of police issued a statement saying that he was in custody.
“Accused Shankar Mishra in IGIA case has been arrested from Bengaluru by a Delhi Police team. He has been brought to Delhi and further investigation into the case is in progress.”
In a statement made through his lawyers, the man claimed he had already compensated the woman at the time of the incident.
“The WhatsApp messages between the accused and the lady clearly show that the accused had got the clothes and bags cleaned on November 28 and the same were delivered on November 30.”
Paying for her clothes to be cleaned is compensation for being peed on. The guy is going to explain to people why he left Wells Fargo.
I don't know how much this guy drank. I don't know what kind of altered state of mind someone would need to think "oh, this seems like a great time to pee on someone on this plane"
The conduct of the airline appears to be unprofessional and has led to a systemic failure, according to India's civil aviation agency.
A woman came public about being urinated on while travelling in Air India business class. The media attention helped put pressure on all parties, even though the airline didn't take the situation seriously.
A criminal complaint has been filed and the man who urinated on the woman has been fired from his job. It was an unfortunate way to end a career.
