The San Francisco 49ers could have their full complement of players for the regular-season finale with receiver Deebo Samuel and running backs returning from injuries.
Samuel, who was carted off with injuries to his knee and ankle in a Week 14 win over the Buccaneers, will be able to play in Sunday's game against the Cards.
Mitchell will be activated from injured reserve on Saturday and will be back from a left knee injury in a few weeks.
The running back missed practice Wednesday and Thursday with ankle and knee injuries.
It should give the 49ers a boost going into the game against the Cards. If the Minnesota Vikings win and the Philadelphia Eagles lose, San Francisco will get the second seed and a bye in the playoffs.
Samuel has 609 yards on 54 catches and two touchdown runs.
As the Niners prepare for the playoffs, they have other important offensive players close to returning.
Mitchell went on injured reserve after he injured his knee. Mitchell has only played in four games this season because of injuries.
The 49ers are expected to use the last of their eight returns from IR to get Mitchell back in time for the playoffs.
In his first year as a 49er, Mitchell led the team in rushing with 962 yards. He's carried the ball 40 times for 224 yards in four games. Mitchell has been on injured reserve twice.
Jimmy Garoppolo may be able to return from his broken foot late in the playoffs if the Niners make it that far, according to the coach.
