Corrine Tarver asked a simple question when she first contacted potential recruits.

Are you interested in making history?

Fisk became the first HBCU gymnastics team to compete at the NCAA level when people who accepted her offer.

The team made their debut at the Super 16 event in Las Vegas 14 months after they were announced.

Fisk made its presence known as soon as possible. The leader of the gymnastics team, Naimah Muhammad, showed no signs of nerves as she started the meet on the floor. Muhammad and Tarver had tears in their eyes as they were met by her teammates and coaches after she walked off the floor.

Tarver said it was "humble" before the meet. It's been a long time since I've been a part of a historically Black college and university. We are ready to go for the first time.

Morgan Price, the five-star recruit who had originally committed to Arkansas before changing her mind, was the team's strongest performer on the day, competing in all four events and earning the meet's highest score on vault with a 9.9%.

She knew what the day meant to the sport because she had dreamed of being an HBCU gymnast.

"It's really cool," Price said in an interview. It's exciting to be a part of the first team ever because we are the first and we are making history.

Fisk University's gymnastics team is the first-ever gymnastics team from an HBCU.
