According to multiple reports, Matt Schlapp, a major Republican figure who is chairman of the Conservative Political Action Coalition, is accused of touching a Herschel Walker Senate staff member during a campaign visit.
According to The Daily Beast, which first reported the allegations, a staff member alleges that Schlapp put his hands on him while driving him home from a bar.
A senior Walker campaign official told NBC News that a staff member immediately reported the incident and the campaign worked to remove the staffer from driving Schlapp.
The staffer is considering legal action against Schlapp because he was hesitant to go public with allegations because of the scandal.
Charlie Spies, the lawyer for Schlapp, denied that there was any improper behavior.
The staffer described the incident in a video that was viewed by The Daily Beast.
It's not clear if the staff member will go public or file a lawsuit. Spies said he is considering legal options after The Daily Beast reported on the incident.
He has been the chairman of the CPAC for seven years and has seen his power grow as an activist and power broker. The New York Times described the couple as Washington's Trump-Era 'It Couple'. The White House political director was also the Chief of Staff to the congressman. According to the Washington Post, the Schlapps hosted events to raise money for Mehmet Oz and other Republican candidates.
The conservative leader is accused of fondling a male campaign staffer.
