Twitter Promised Them Severance. They Got Nothing

Around 50 percent of the company's staff was laid off shortly after Musk took over. He said that the laid off would get three months of pay. Several former employees of the company say they haven't heard anything after two months of waiting.

In the US and the UK, former staffers are filing lawsuits in order to get out of their contracts. People haven't heard anything in countries where there were layoffs.

Some staff were kept on payroll for longer after the layoffs were announced. California employees were employed until January 4 to make sure they did not run afoul of the WARN Act. State laws allow former staffers to be employed for another month. The silence has become deafening as the deadlines have passed.

The seven former employees who spoke to WIRED said they had not received any information about their separation from the company. A group of former employees announced last month that they would be filing cases against the company in an attempt to get back their jobs.

A former employee who was laid off in November is waiting on legal proceedings to see if they will be given a severance package. A person who was laid off in November has yet to hear from the company.

Since they were fired in November, a third of them haven't received any details of their separation. They had been promised at least two times that they would be given details of their package.

An ex-staffer in the UK who is currently talking with the company on behalf of the 300 staff that are based in the country, says that they have not received word about severance but are still talking with the company.

The office in which the former employee worked was open for less than a week before the rest of the staff was laid off. The former employee didn't know what recourse they could take against the company.

Some are getting some help from the social networking site. The former contractor said their boss received their details. The agency that hired the contractor gave them a box of chocolates. They were granted anonymity because talking to the media could affect their pay.

Some people decided to wait until their official status expired on January 4 while others took legal action against the company.
