Users complain of hours lost on the platform at night. In an effort to address these concerns, the company is testing new sleep reminders that include the option to set up alert when it's your time to go to bed. The new sleep reminders are being tested with a small group of users.

The new feature is visible under the "screen time" settings in the app. There is a new option for users who are part of the test. If you reach your sleep time on TikTok, the app will remind you to go to bed. When the clock hits that time, you will be reminded to close the app. Push notifications will be disabled for seven hours after you sleep.

The company is working on new ways to support users' well-being and that this new tool builds on its current digital well-being features. In February 2020, the app launched screen time management tools, and has since introduced additional features to give users more control over their app usage.

The company launched an in-app tool to help users control how much time they spend on TikTok in a single sitting. By default, it suggests break reminders of 10, 20 or 30 minutes, though users can set reminders for a custom time if they want to engage in longer sessions before being shown the notification. There are restrictions on nighttime notifications for teen accounts. Push notifications aren't sent from 9pm to 13-15 year olds and from 10pm to 17 year olds.
