Humans are a lot of fun to be around. We are pre-programmed to use technology to stay connected with others. The connection can be with the technology itself. The adorable pet robot that will either melt your heart or serve as a loyal smart home companion is called Loona.

The halfway point between the adorableness of Anki's Cozmo and Amazon's high-end Astro home robot can be found here. Kids of all ages may find themselves sucked in by her charms, but there is definitely a focus on younger users. If you already have a pet, Loona has been designed to interact with it.

A regular camera for face detection and object recognition is one of the things that Loona has. Four microphones give Loona the ability to locate you as you call her, and she will lean into your head-strokes with biological authenticity. It will respond to a number of verbal commands and gestures at launch. The graphical programming tool will allow you to create your own interactions and share them with others.

Loona has an endearing personality. Loona's eyes look like they are from a Disney movie. There is an option to add custom expressions and emotions further down the line, according to the company.

Loona can be used as a home security and monitoring system. If you want to find out where your cat is hiding, you can direct her around your home, unlike static pet-cams where you might ruin a weekend away driving back because you haven't seen your cat in a while. It's not a problem with Loona.

There is a lot of interest in this category, as evidenced by the fact that Loona secured over three million dollars in funding. The general availability of the robot is on track for the end of this month, and it will retail for $429. You can get one for $359 if you want to.
