The route between Miami and Tel Aviv will be discontinued by American Airlines on March 24, 2023. American will continue to operate daily flights to Tel Aviv from New York, and will reach out to customers affected by these changes, to offer alternate travel arrangements.

After a continuous evaluation of the carrier's network, American made a difficult decision. The only airline that connects Florida and Israel will be left by American's end of service.

The Miami to Tel Aviv route was only launched by American in June 2021. The route was increased to daily as of October 2022. When the route was first launched, it was operated by a Boeing plane, but now it is a Boeing plane.

American only came back to Israel in 2021. The airline started a New York to Tel Aviv route in May of 2021. The Dallas to Tel Aviv route was supposed to be launched by American.

Why is American canceling Miami to Tel Aviv flights?

I didn't think this would happen. It isn't often that you see a route launch and then be canceled. It makes you wonder if the route is being canceled because it was losing money, or if it is being canceled because American doesn't have enough wide body aircraft.

There is a lot of time on the ground in Tel Aviv when you travel from Miami to Tel Aviv. With the route being cut around the start of the summer airline schedule, perhaps the airline thinks a plane can be used for seasonal service to Europe or for service to Asia, especially with mainland China opening up again.

I wonder if American just wasn't using the correct plane for the route. Tel Aviv is often a premium market, but the 787-8 only has 20 business class seats, which isn't a lot of capacity.

There are flights from Chicago, Newark, San Francisco, and Washington to Tel Aviv. American will only fly to Israel once a day.

American was going to operate three routes to Tel Aviv. I wonder...
