There is a new date of Jan 6, 2023.
One of the stars of the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, Jen Shah, was sentenced to over six years in prison and five years of supervised release for her role in a telemarketing scheme.
New York-based federal Judge Sidney H. Stein sentenced Shah and pushed back on the idea that her business could have done any good, saying: "What good things could she have been doing, calling elderly people and selling them business opportunities and they would maxed out their credit cards and get the
Shah requested a sentence of only 36 months, or three years, while the government said she should serve 120 months, or 10 years, for selling "Justice For Jen" merchandise after she was arrested.
She agreed to pay up to more than $6 million in fines and forfeitures.
Shah has to report to prison by February 17
Shah didn't write the line "the only thing I'm guilty of is being Shah-mazing" She saidReality TV has nothing to do with reality.
Shah is a fan favorite because she is over-the-top and combative. Her arrest was partially captured on camera, as she left a cast trip after getting an urgent phone call, only for Department of Homeland Security officers to show up moments later to look for her. Shah and her right-hand man, Stuart Smith, were charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud in the Southern District of New York after they were arrested in 2021. According to the Department of Justice, Shah and Smith built their opulent lifestyle at the expense of vulnerable, elderly, working-class people. Several people who were charged in the scheme have been sentenced to prison and Smith hasn't yet been sentenced. Smith was expected to testify at Shah's trial after she pleaded guilty. Shah pleaded guilty a week before the trial was to start. Her maximum prison time was reduced from 50 to 14 years as a result of the agreement. Shah did not attend the recent taping of the Real Housewives reunion episode, where she could have answered questions from her fellow cast mates, but she couldn't discuss her legal issues.
Shah isn't the only reality TV star who has been sentenced to prison. Teresa Guidice, star of the Real Housewives of New Jersey, went to prison for nearly one year after pleading guilty to fraud for a case related to her bankruptcy. The stars of the USA Network show Chrisley Knows Best were sentenced to 19 years in prison after being found guilty of bank and tax fraud.
If Jen Shah is found guilty, she could face up to 14 years in prison.
