Orlovsky: Jets would be a playoff team with Derek Carr (1:07)

Dan Orlovsky talks about the quarterback options for the Jets. There is a time and a place for this.

10:29 AM ET

The New York Jets will start Joe Flacco over Mike White in their final game of the season against the Miami Dolphins, according to a source.

White was supposed to start for the second week in a row after returning from fractured ribs, but he was ruled out after feeling unwell. The second quarterback will be Wilson.

The Jets are out of the playoffs after their fifth straight loss. There is some symmetry to it. They will end the season with Flacco because of an injury that started with him.

This could be the last game of his distinguished career because he hasn't decided his future, but he did win the Super Bowl with the Ravens.

The Jets will end the season with three quarterbacks who have started at least four games.

It was the second time in the last four weeks that White was ruled out on a Friday due to his ribs. After getting injured, I was going to start the next week, but couldn't because of doctors' orders. He missed two games as Wilson took his place.

In last week's must-win game against the Seattle Seahawks, Wilson was benched for the second time in as many games. White had a rib injury and completed only 23 of 46 passes for 241 yards.

When the Jets canceled White's regular media availability Thursday, there were red flags. He was listed in the injury report as limited in practice. There was no one available Thursday.

After Wilson had knee surgery, the Jets turned to Flacco. He fumbled on a strip sack in the loss to the Bills.

The quarterback has a 28.6 QBR, which is 37th out of 38 passers with a minimum of 150 tries.

White will be an unrestricted free agent and his time with the Jets may be over. He finished the season with a 1-3 record, with 3 touchdown passes, 4 interceptions, and a completion rate of less than 50%.
