Last year, I attended an event to celebrate the advancement of artificial intelligence. A hundred of us gathered in a pierside exhibition space to watch scripted presentations from executives and watch demos of the latest advances in technology. Jeff Dean, the company's high priest of computation, spoke from the West Coast and promised a hope for the future.
