A Norfolk man was acquitted of all charges for shooting five people with an AK-47.

After two hours of deliberations, the jury found Kimahni Lankford not guilty of all the charges.

There was a shooting at about 10PM. There is an outdoor area of the Lexington Park apartments. A 1-month-old baby, her mother, and three men were injured by gunfire.

Honesty was hit in the hip by a bullet when she was outside with her mother. She had to have her reproductive organs removed that night. She won't be able to have children due to her injuries.

It is not known how many people witnessed the shooting, but police body camera video shows many people standing around as officers respond to the scene. There was only one person who came forward to identify the shooter.

Lavon Platt testified that he went to the apartment complex to buy drugs. During the three-day trial, only one witness was called to testify.

The defense attorney argued that the witness wasn't a credible one.

During his testimony, he admitted that he didn't tell law enforcement about who shot his niece until after he was charged with violating his parole. He was convicted of making a false statement.

In order to get a deal with police and prosecutors that would allow him to be released on bond while his case was pending, he pointed the finger at Lankford, according to the argument made by Korslund. He was let go the next day.

He was in charge of playing the system. The man played it like a fiddle. It worked.
