Less than four days after White admitted to a physical altercation with his wife on New Year's Eve, the debut of Dana White's Power Slap League has been delayed.
The Power Slap League was supposed to launch on Jan. 11 but will now launch on January 18. The UFC didn't give any more details about the delay. On Thursday, the UFC posted a promotional video on the competition/reality show, "Power Slap: Road to the Title," with a specific air date of January 18.
White and his wife were involved in a fight on New Year's Eve. Neither the UFC's broadcast partner nor the UFC's parent company has commented.
White apologized during an interview with the celebrity gossip website. White hit his wife, Anne, in the face after she slapped him in the nightclub.
White said over the years that there is never an excuse for a man to put his hands on a woman. I have no excuse for this thing. It is the first time it has ever happened. It is the first time it has happened. The people are going to say what they want to say. It is deserved. I'm deserving of it.
Anne said that the incident was isolated in her statement to the website. The couple have been married for 30 years.
Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta are White's former business partners. White was installed as president by the Fertitta brothers. White stayed on as president after the brothers sold the company.
Two people slap each other to the face for three rounds or less if a knockout happens. The league is regulated by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
