Five days after his contract with the US men's national team expired, Berhalter said he would like to stay on as the team's coach.

The USMNT program will be reviewed after the World Cup in 2022. Danielle Reyna said on Wednesday that she had told U.S. soccer about the incident.

Berhalter was asked during an appearance on "The New World of Work" if he still wanted to be the coach.

"It's about being able to take that next step and the next step is doing something that no U.S. team has ever done and that's get to the semifinals and see what happens from there"

There are a lot of challenges. I would like to stay in my role.

Berhalter went public with information about the incident in a lengthy statement. After the statement was released, the U.S. Soccer said it had begun an investigation.

On Wednesday, Danielle Reyna admitted to sharing details of the domestic violence incident, in which Berhalter said he kicked his wife after a heated argument.

USMNT assistant coach Anthony Hudson will be in charge of the team for two games in January.

Stewart allowed for the possibility that Berhalter could be rehired as coach after the conclusion of the external law firm's investigation and U.S. Soccer's own internal review.

The entire family is sad by the events. We would like to move forward from that.

We didn't hide from it back then and we weren't prepared to hide from it now. It was my wife's story to tell if she chose to or not, so I feel bad for her.

He said the Harvard Business Review asked him if he wanted to cancel the appearance, but he chose not to.

The introduction states that Berhalter's decision to limit the playing time of one of his young players prompted the player's parents to try to blackmail him by threatening to expose an incident more than 30 years ago. This is a nightmare for soccer moms.

Berhalter didn't mind that the events were described.

During the World Cup, Danielle's husband and Gio's father, a former USMNT captain, sent a number of messages to the US team's general manager and head coach, in which he said he was upset with his son's performance.

According to multiple sources, he threatened to reveal allegations about Berhalter's past, but he has denied them.

My son's World Cup experience was a topic of discussion with a number of his friends, including Brian and Earnie. He said in Wednesday's statement that he never threatened anyone.

Speaking in a room of about 200 people at the HOW Institute for Society's Summit on Moral Leadership in New York, after returning from the World Cup, Berhalter detailed how a player almost left the team for not meeting expectations.

When the comments were mistakenly published in a CharterWorks newsletter, Danielle Reyna informed Stewart of the incident.

I wouldn't have told that story if I had to do it all over again. A shining example of team culture and teamwork was brought too much attention. I would change that thing for sure.

Berhalter's willingness to discuss an in-house matter publicly, regardless of his belief the comments wouldn't be shared outside the room, has led to questions of whether he can retain the trust of national team players.

It takes a long time to build trust and you have to be consistent with who you are and have clear values.

People can trust that consistency is there if you're there. It is something we take very serious. I think it's very serious.

Maintaining my bond with the players is important to me. They know who I am and what I stand for.
