Lacey Chabert has appeared on the screen as a beloved star at the Hallmark Channel for over a decade. Following the success of her The Wedding Veil movie trilogy last year alongside Alison Sweeney and Autumn Reeser, these three leading ladies are back to share even more stories with a new trilogy.
Chabert has built a large and loyal fan following over the past decade, from her unforgettable Christmas tales to her romance, mystery and comedy stories. I asked Chabert why The Wedding Veil movies have been so popular with audiences over the last year.
Chabert thinks they're so likable. In The Wedding Veil, we get to explore the best friends, which is something that Hallmark is doing a good job of. The romantic relationship is front and center, but it is only one part of the story. What do these friends do? How are they connected to each other? After these movies are over, we get to see what happens. They usually end with that first kiss, the characters are falling in love, and then they get married. The audience always inquires after that. I would like to see them together. They might have a family. What is happening in their lives? Being married is explored in these movies. How does it affect the friends? In a deeper way, we get to meet these women and their friends.
Chabert, Sweeney and Reeser have each made their own success in their own movies over the past few years, yet their collaboration in The Wedding Veil has proven the power of this on-screen trio I wondered how it had been for Chabert to be able to work with her co-stars.
Chabert replied, "You know what?" There is a lot of what you see on-screen that is happening in real life. I think that Ali, Autumn and I are very different, but very much the same. We have a lot in common, but we are not the same. I enjoy getting to know them in a deeper way. We all know what it's like to be that girl in a movie, we've all been with the same channel for a long time. We support each other by sharing so many stories. Both of them have supported and loved me. Getting to spend time together and have these adventures, not only filming on-location in Canada, but this time around, we traveled to Greece and Bulgaria When we were in Italy and Bulgaria last time, we were able to experience a real adventure together. It isn't something that happens every day.
Chabert signed a two-year deal with the Hallmark Channel. I asked Chabert what stories she was most interested in telling over the next year, both in front of the camera and behind-the-scenes.
Chabert said that he was thankful for the opportunity to have a larger voice in the creative process and to be a producer and be a part of development. I am so proud of all the work that we have been able to do together, and I am excited about all that we have in the works. We are going to possibly re-visit some characters that I have enjoyed playing in the past and see if there are any more stories to tell.
Chabert says, "Look, I don't take it lightly - I've done 35 movies now for Hallmark and I really consider it my goal to make each one better than the last." It's my job to make the best movie I possibly can and hopefully create a character they see themselves in, so I'm grateful that people choose to sit down in their living rooms for two hours and give us two hours of their time.
Chabert wants to bring new projects to her fans in a variety of formats, as well as furthering her career at the Hallmark Channel.
There's a lot of other stuff we're looking to do I have an idea for a reality show that I hope will become a reality show. I would love to do a show on TV. I haven't been on a weekly TV show in a long time. I enjoy living with a character for an entire season and getting to know them better. I hope to do that with Hallmark.
Chabert told me that she has an idea for a reality show that would be with her on camera or in more of a producing capacity. With other cable networks and video streaming giants putting out more and more family-friendly content, I wondered what it was that kept Chabert calling it her home.
Chabert thinks that the movie company makes a good feel-good movie. I like to make them and experience them on set. I can't tell you how many people came up to me and said what the movies meant to them. The woman said it was a tradition with her husband. He had just died. It opened my eyes to the fact that the movies mean something to people. We are doing a job but it has become more than that. To be a part of something that brings goodness back into the world is a really good thing.
Chabert played a popular high school girl in the film Mean Girls and many still remember her for that. I wondered if Chabert ever gets frustrated that she's still being recognized for a role she did two decades ago, especially after the successful and successful legacy she has left.
Chabert does not say that he doesn't. You try to make something that people will like. We did that movie and had a great time, laughing and having the best time. You never know how it will be received, the movie felt good, but you never know how it will be received. I feel honored to be a part of it since we are almost two decades later.
Chabert recently created and launched her own clothing line, the Lacey Chabert Collection, which is available at HSN. Chabert's clothing line has brought joy to her that she may not get out of her other responsibilities alone.
Chabert said that he had enjoyed creating the loungewear. It has been a long time since I dreamed of it. It felt right for me to partner with them because I have been a customer of theirs for many years. I like shopping on their website, watching their live shows and being able to talk to the customer directly on TV. I like to be innovative. To be able to put this out into the world is something that has been exciting for me.
I wanted to know what the greatest lesson Chabert had learned over the years, that would stick with her as she moves forward with a mindset that feels stronger because of it.
Chabert said, "What a good question." I think I have learned to never give up and that is something I am trying to teach my daughter. Six years old, she is in kindergarten. She is the top. The light of my life is her. I tried to help her with her spelling test. Don't give up even in the smallest of things. It's important that you're your biggest advocate. You have to be your own cheerleader and if you have people around you that will be that for you. There have been some really hard days and hard times in this business, and I have learned a lot from that. For me, my heart has to be in it, I think you have to be tenacious.
Chabert celebrated her 40th birthday on September 30 and told me she does not shy away from embracing. Chabert was recently starting a new decade and I asked her where she wanted to focus her attention.
Chabert believes that the best is yet to come. I am thankful for all of the experience that I have had, but I am also excited for all of the dreams that I have that I am still trying to bring to life. I look back at the last 10 years of my life and I am most thankful for my husband and daughter. She encourages me to be my best self.
I asked Chabert if there was a special message she could give to the people who continue to champion and admire the work you do and the joy that comes from it.
Chabert said thank you. Thank you for watching. The reason that we are allowed to continue this story is because you guys showed up in such a big way for the original wedding veils. You keep supporting me. I don't know how I can explain how grateful I am for it.
