Sony Has Declared That The Great PS5 Shortage Is Over At CES

The debut of a new accessibility control system was one of the highlights of Sony's show at the Consumer Electronics Show. Since its release in 2020, the PS5 has sold 30 million units.

Jim Ryan is now willing to say that the PS5 shortage of the first few years of release should be over by the end of the year.

He said that everyone who wants a PS5 should be able to find one at retailers around the world.

Ryan thanks fans for bearing with Sony, which has managed unprecedented demand over the past two years. It was difficult to find PS5 after it was released, and it was still selling out instantly when it appeared online. The idea is that you can just go to a local store and buy one off the shelf.

If supply had been able to meet demand for the last two years, PS5 sales would have blown away the competition. We are already seeing an acceleration, and that may be closer to reality. The PS5 sold 30 million more units than the PS4 did.

Last year was a big one for PS5 with the release of two games, God of War Rago and God of the West. The preferred home of third party offerings was it. Microsoft no longer reports how much the PS5 outsells the Xbox Series X and S, but Microsoft's own data shows that Sony is a bigger player in the market than they are.

The release of Starfield in the first half of the year, if the deal goes through, could be a big year for the console. Spider-Man 1 was the best-selling exclusive for the PS4 when it was first released. They aren't slowing down at all.

Four of the top ten are made up of PS5 consoles.

6. PS1 – 102.49 million sold

9. Xbox 360 – 84 million sold
10. Game Boy Advance – 81.51 million sold.

It stands to reason that the PS5 will sell more than the PS4 given enough years of production. Is it possible that anything could touch PS2? Recent trends don't make it impossible. It will have to be seen.
