The trackball stans are rejoicing. One of the few remaining manufacturers of premium trackball mice has introduced two new options. A pair of more budget-friendly options were introduced at the Consumer Electronics Show. Where the SlimBlade Pro is manipulated by the user's fingers, the new offerings rely on the thumb to move the ball.

The same shape with the trackball under the thumb and compatibility with Windows, macOS, and Chrome OS can be found in both the TB450 and the TB555. There are no similarities between the TB450 and the TB550 with only five and seven inputs respectively. The TB450 is reliant on disposable batteries for power, while the more expensive TB550 has a tilt wheel.

The TB550 will be available for $70 and features a USB-C rechargeable battery and a tilt-enabled scroll wheel.

Users can modify the inputs for either trackball with the help of the software.

Trackballs still enjoy a small but devoted following despite the fact that they fell out of favor with the advent of more advanced optical sensors. It is difficult to get anyone to ditch their existing mouse for a trackball in today's environment.

There are still dedicated trackball peripherals available from other places, such as the $49.99 Ergo M575 and $99.99 MX, which are open-sourced and require a little soldering know-how. We might see a few more people use trackballs in their home office with the upcoming entry of the TBR450 and TBR555.
