At a time when there is a lot of debate going on about the benefits and drawbacks of artificial intelligence, Apple has launched an audio narration for select titles. Independent authors who may not be able to convert their titles to audiobooks because of the cost and complexity of production will be helped by this feature on the company's website.

Only a small number of titles are narrated by Apple voices. There is a narrator section for these titles.

While Apple says the program is for independent authors, currently they have to sign up with partner publishing companies to get their book narrated by Apple's Artificial Intelligence voices

Apple is currently accepting submissions under the romance and fiction genres, with support for only literary, historical, and women's fiction at the moment. It's starting its voice narration work for nonfiction and self- development. Madison and Jackson are two of the four voices currently offered by Apple. Apple didn't say what training data it was using to tune the voices, but they said they were trained in specific genres.

Apple Books uses advanced speech technology with important work by teams of linguists, quality control specialists, and audio engineers to produce high-quality audiobooks from an ebook file. Apple said on its website that it has adapted speech technology for long-form reading, working with publishers, authors, and narrators.

audiobook titles on the Apple Book store are usually narrated by the author with other guests or voice artists pitching in at times Apple wants to eliminate the need for sitting in a studio to record the narration. Results are not instantaneous. Once an author submits a request, it takes one to two months for the book to be processed and checked.

As soon as the processing is complete, the title is published. The company didn't give any information on what might be the drawbacks of a rushed process and how the final might sound.

It is not known if authors can port their audiobooks to other platforms. If Apple gives us a comment, we will update the story.

According to a report from The Guardian, Apple wanted to make this feature available last November. It was delayed because of industry layoffs and the Musk drama.

Books that are narrated by artificial intelligence can be found on most platforms. It is possible that Apple's entry into the market will attract a lot of attention to platforms like Murf. There is no information about how much Apple charges for converting a book into an audiobook.

Apple might have to allow alternative app stores and third-party payment options if it wants to continue to make money. When generative artificial intelligence is having its moment, Apple is taking the first steps to make it a viable option for cash.
