There is a lounge at my home airport. I haven't visited the lounge in a long time, and I haven't reviewed it in a long time. How is the Amex lounge in Miami? Let's look at it.
Concourse D is where most American Airlines flights leave from. You can easily visit the lounge if you leave from both Concourses D and E. If you leave another terminal, you won't be able to use this lounge.
There is a lounge near gate D 12. You want to walk down the main part of the concourse when you get through the security checkpoint.
The lounge has signs for it.
You can see the elevators leading up to the lounge on the left in the rotunda. There is a lounge above the main concourse.
The hallway leading to reception is located on the right side of the lounge. I had to show my identification and my boarding pass.
The lounge is open from 5AM until 10PM and covers most of the departures from the airport.
All Amex lounges have the same access policies. Those who have any of the following cards are able to access the lounge.
There are a number of terms to be aware of when accessing the lounge.
Changes to its guesting policies will hopefully help with crowding issues, as of February 23, 2023.
The Amex Centurion Lounge Miami is roughly average in size. What is the lounge's layout? You can either turn left or right when walking past reception into the lounge. We should start at the very right of the lounge.
The main dining area and bar are located at the end of the lounge. If you want to know your flight status, there are departure monitors here.
The small sitting area by the entrance is past that. The highest traffic area of the lounge is this one.
There are lots of tables and a row of seats in the lounge, which gets a bit narrower.
Communal workstations, a desktop, and a few printers can be found in the past.
There is a wine bar past that. The main bar and food at the other end of the lounge tend to act as a magnet, so if you go further in the direction of the lounge, it's quieter.
One of the largest areas of the lounge is in the back. The primary space was added when the lounge was expanded.
The lounge feels a bit more premium than your typical domestic airport lounge in the US. Planes can be seen from the lounge because the windows of the apron and runway are floor to ceiling. I couldn't get a good plane picture when I visited early in the morning because of the condensation on the windows.
I went to the lounge right when it opened at 5AM, so there wasn't a problem with crowding. The lounge is known for having crowding problems. Upcoming changes to the guesting policies will hopefully change that.
Compared to what you would find in other lounges in the U.S., Centurion Lounges has superior food and drinks. The lounge partners with a chef and a bartender.
There is a continental breakfast from 5AM until 6AM, a hot breakfast from 6AM until 11:30AM, and lunch and dinner from 11:30AM until 9PM. There is a sample menu for the lounge in Miami.
When continental breakfast was being served, I had to leave the lounge before the full hot breakfast was served.
Fresh fruit, yogurt, and some pastries were part of the continental breakfast. The full breakfast selection was probably more extensive.
There were containers with coffee, tea, and other beverages at the bar.
You can find a wine menu at the lounge.
The beer and cocktail menu can be found at the lounge.
The second buffet setup didn't seem to be being used. I am not sure if that is always the case or if it is just the case in the morning.
There is a spa near the entrance of the lounge. Travelers can reserve 15-minute treatments on the spot. Chair massage and nail care are included in the treatments. It can be difficult to get an appointment at a spa when it isn't yet open for the day.
The lounge gets a lot of visitors and the spa can only accommodate a few at a time. Appointment availability is more like a lottery than any other thing.
Private rooms are located near the wine bar in the Amex Centurion Lounge Miami. I would check to see if these are available if you are looking for a quiet place to hang out.
There is a family room near the entrance of the lounge with a TV and a variety of toys for children. This space is appreciated by both parents and non- parents.
One bathroom has one stall and two urinals while the other bathroom has two stalls and one urinal.
The shower suites are available at the lounge, but it's not always possible to get them. I inquired about the possibility of a shower at 5:30AM and was told the next appointment would be at 9:00AM. Most people can only get into the lounge up to three hours before departure.
The Amex Centurion Lounge Miami is a good size and has good views of the apron and runways. Food and drinks can be found in the lounge.
I have avoided this lounge because of the crowding issues, but I have visited the American Admirals Club in the past. It wasn't an issue when I visited at 5AM. Changes to the guesting policies of the lounge will hopefully make crowding less of a problem.
I will most likely check out the lounge again when I fly out of Miami because of the changes to guesting policies.
What was your experience at the lounge?
