The prototype for the i Vision Dee concept car was shown during the keynote at the Consumer Electronics Show. The four-door sedan came out on stage in a crisp white, but later changed into a variety of colors and patterns to show off Dee's E-ink technology, which will allow car owners to modify the car's exterior with 32 different colors

Dee is a concept car that is indicative of BMW's next generation platform, which the company said will launch in 2025.

Dee's voice was used to personalize and humanize the car. Dee has a "digital soul, a personality not only with a voice but with facial expressions, too," according to BMW. The quote from the film, " The unknown future rolls toward us," really drove this point home. If a machine can learn the value of human life, maybe we can too.

What is BMW telling us? Oliver Zipse, BMW's CEO, called Dee "the next level of human-machine interaction, a concept that cannot be dismissed as science fiction because it will inspire our Neue Klasse."

Since the emergence of the software-defined vehicle, automakers have been looking for new ways to use that software to create a more personalized experience for drivers and passengers. A lot of examples are provided by the Consumer Electronics Show. Last year it was about in-car gaming and this year it's about in-car gaming. BMW is taking it up a notch by showing a car that has its own emotions as well as an emotional connection to humans.

I Vision Dee BMW concept car in multi-color

Dee has an E-ink exterior that can change into 32 different colors. The image was created by BMW.

BMW wants to turn that vision into reality by combining software and hardware development for a seamless digital experience.

A driver needs all the data from level one. Text messages and calls can be seen at level 2. Collision warnings and possible obstacles are included in the navigation data of Level three. Social media is visualized as well.

The fourth level goes beyond reality. Is that actually what it means? Dee told us that you could bring all your friends into your car.

She said, "Your friends, your family, even your pets without one single animal hair on the seat, which I absolutely adore, in an endless virtual world." You can meet people and play with them. It's possible to go sightseeing in your car. What will fit in your car in the future is something you wouldn't think about. It is like being in your own movie theater. The movie is what you live for.

In a world where the windows could be blacked-out, this would be a possibility.

BMW is trying to add so much impressive, seamless tech to its vehicles that people really do start seeing their cars as their ultimate companions. Isn't it weird?
