The first day of each new Congress is supposed to be a celebration, with Lawmakers dressed in their very best, with their families in tow, and little kids watching the historic event.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, the children were let down as their parents were sworn into Congress. The speaker position was empty as of Wednesday night when the House adjourned until noon on Thursday.

The children were waiting for the ceremony to happen but it never happened.

These girls had expressions of sheer boredom.
