According to Sony, the PS5 shortage is over. Jim Ryan, the company's gaming boss, said that everyone who wants a PS5 should have a easier time finding one at retailers around the world. Around 30 million consoles have been sold by the company. The last time it released sales numbers was in November.
It has been a long time since the launch of the PS5 and we declared it to be almost easy to buy. For most of the console's life, getting one required you to be either very lucky, relatively on-the-spot with drops, or willing to pay more than the console's retail price. The main way to get it was via a $550 bundle, which included the PS5 with disk drive, and a game, but a steep price if you were hoping for the game.
Ryan thanked fans for their patience as the company managed unprecedented demand amid global challenges.
At least one of Best Buy's locations in my area has the regular version of the console in stock, despite the fact that both versions of the console are out of stock online. You can add a digital edition to your cart if you sign in, but the disk version is not available.
It is hoped that Sony won't have the same issues when the PSVR2 is released in February.
