New York Representative-elect GeorgeSantos did not respond to his name being called during the fifth House Speaker vote.

"Santos" The person next to him appeared to be talking quietly as a voice said over a microphone, "Santos," He raised his hand after his name was called for the second time.

The Republican is being investigated in the US for running a dishonest campaign, as well as being called out by an ex-boyfriend for not paying bills.

The video posted by The Recount made people laugh.

On his first day at Congress, Santos mostly avoided reporters and sat alone. According to Insider, a fellow congress member called Santos a liar after he cast his vote.

The New York Post reported that during the vote on Wednesday, Santos appeared to only look at his phone and be disengaged.

The vote was in favor of McCarthy becoming Speaker. McCarthy didn't get the spot after six votes.
