The US were beaten by the Netherlands in the last 16 at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar

Berhalter's wife was kicked by her coach when they were teenagers, according to the mother of Giovanni Reyna.

Danielle said she reported the incident to US Soccer on December 11th.

She said that people were trashing her son when Berhalter had done worse things.

The US didn't start a player in the World Cup.

During a speech at a leadership summit in December, Berhalter said an unnamed player was almost sent home from Qatar for not meeting expectations.

Berhalter thought his comments would remain private but after they were mistakenly allowed to be published, he let it affect his training and behavior.

He apologized to his team mates and Berhalter.

Berhalter said someone told him they were going to take him down.

In a statement on Wednesday, Danielle Reyna, who won six caps for the US women's national team and was the roommate of Berhalter's now wife, said she did not make any threats when she reported the incident from 1991.

She contacted Stewart because she felt betrayed by someone her family had considered a friend for decades.

She said that she thought it was unfair that Gio, who had apologized for acting immaturely about his playing time, was still being dragged through the mud.

She claimed that Berhalter's statement minimized the abuse on the night.

"Rosalind Berhalter was my roommate, teammate and best friend, and I supported her through the trauma that followed," she said.

It took me a long time to forgive and accept Gregg, but I made both of them and their kids a huge part of my family's life.

I would have liked for him to give the same treatment to Gio. The current situation is very hard to deal with.

He said he kicked her in the legs after they had been out drinking.

They met seven months after the incident to rebuild their relationship.

They celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary over the new year weekend.

Danielle said she wanted to report the incident to Stewart to stop the attacks on her son.

She said that she didn't know when or if the trashing of Gio on social media would stop after she called Earnie.

There would be no more unwarranted attacks on my son.

I didn't think anything I said could lead to an investigation when we were talking.

She said that she knows that Stewart had an obligation to investigate, but that she didn't make any threats, nor did she know anything about blackmail attempts.

The man who played with Berhalter on youth and high school teams said he supported his wife's statement.

After the US was out of the World Cup, I appealed to Earnie Stewart to refrain from making any more comments, and I was also upset by the comments made by Greg.

My son's World Cup experience was a topic of discussion with a number of his friends, including Brian and Earnie. At no point did I threaten anyone.

His position is being evaluated after his contract expired.

A training camp will be held in January.
