Sometimes, for private reasons, a couple will choose to tie the knot at a courthouse in front of a judge, and then hold a less official, more public wedding ceremony and reception for family and friends at a later date.

That is how Arizona's 24th governor is named.

The newly elected Secretary of State Adrian Fontes and Attorney General Kris Mayes were among those who took the oath of office.

The event was not open to the general public. It lasted less than a day. The process began after 10 a.m.

Not wanting to give Lake 'a bigger stage'

While I am not a historian, I believe that the most efficient and least costly official government function that has occurred in our state has been in Arizona.

There will be an opportunity for Arizona citizens to attend inaugural festivities. There is a public event at the State Capitol on Thursday.

What to watch for in the future.

She was criticized for not being willing to go head-to-head with her opponent. I didn't want to give her a bigger stage to do that because she has centered her whole platform around this election denialism. She has shown that she is only interested in creating a spectacle and not interested in substantive conversations.

Hobbs wasn't hiding, she was outsmarting

Lake wanted to create a spectacle and was only interested in doing so. She is continuing to pursue ridiculous election fraud claims in court while cozying up to Trump.

She received a lot of criticism for not taking her oath of office in a public setting, as if she was turning her back on the citizens who elected her.

That is not the whole story.

She was being outsmarted.

Holding her swearing in ceremony in private was a way for her to outsmart her opponent.

There is a chance that some of Lake's supporters will try to disrupt the event. Doing so won't change anything. The transition of power that already has taken place cannot be altered by the sadly brainwashed believers in Lake.

If the couple is already married, there's no way to stop it.
