Did you think this wouldn’t happen to you, Shannon?

Shannon returned to Undisputed on Wednesday morning after missing Tuesday's show due to the way he was affected by what happened to Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin on Monday night football.

It only took 41 seconds for everything to fall apart.

How it went down:

Bayless said, "Timeout." It's time to take a break. I won't take it down because I stand by what I'm saying.

There was a back and forth between the two trying to decide who would speak next.

Then...

Shannon said she couldn't get through a monologue without you disrupting her.

Bayless wouldn't let him finish explaining why he missed Tuesday's show because he felt the show should have been about Hamlin and not the backlash of Bayless' post about Hamlin. Bayless claimed that he was under the impression that nobody at Fox had a problem with his message.

The full exchange can be watched below.

The “embrace debate” era:

Wednesday morning's show was either the stuff that keeps bringing you back or the final nail in the coffin you've been waiting for.

We have seen how former football players who have transitioned to television have been affected by Hamlin. While the opening of Wednesday's show gave him the chance to explain why the incident was so personal to him, it also meant that he would have to share the stage with a person who has a history of being a jerk to his coworkers.

Bayless had a disrespectful and uncomfortable back-and-forth with Jenny Taft on air in which he tried to check her. Cari Champion once said that it was obvious that he went after Stephen A. Smith. When she was with Bayless on First Take, it was just like, "you don't matter...just be happy that you're here" Bayless likes to use a tone with women and Black men that screams "know your place" whenever they say something he doesn't like.

As he has a history of messing up at the same debate desk, he is not innocent in this.

When he called him during the show and had a private conversation about his free agency without telling him, he was sold out. Just a few weeks ago, Sharpe caused an uproar when he bashed the worth and importance of HBCUs solely in defense of his friend, Deion. I went to an HBCU because I was prop 48. I think it worked out well for me. Had the grades come out of high school? I would have picked an HBCU.

Shannon is 54 years old. He was going to do Undisputed and debate with Skip Bayless. He signed a new deal with the company that gave him the platform, popularity, and money that the show has provided him. The man is not a victim. He is not a good person. The man who is the face of morning sports television has been a part of the idiocracy. You get burned when dancing with the devil. You enjoy third- degree burns when you dance with him.

Don't feel bad for Shannon, he did this on his own.
