The country's prime minister said that the stadium would be renamed after the Brazilian soccer player.
The stadium located just outside the capital Praia will be known as the Pele Stadium.
The president of football's governing body proposed that every country name a stadium after the footballing legend who died in December at the age of 22.
"As a tribute and recognition to this figure that makes us all great, I manifest the intention of naming our national stadium as "Pele Stadium", in an initiative that, I believe, will be followed by several countries around the world," Ulisses Correira e Silva wrote on Facebook.
"With the physical disappearance of Edson Arantes de Nascimento, King Pele, who soon became a planetary figure, an icon of the mass showing that sport has the power to unite the world, it is now our wish to pay tribute to him," said Mr Silva.
The history and culture of Cape Verde and Brazil are very similar.
"Pele was and always will be a reference in Brazil, in our Portuguese-speaking countries and in the rest of the world, being an icon that links several generations."
During his 21-year career, which ended in 2000, he scored a world record 1,281 goals, including 77 goals in 92 matches for his country, as well as being named the player of the century.
Infantino said at the memorial that every country in the world would be asked to name one of their stadiums after him.
Danny Jordaan, the president of the South Africa's Football Association, is worried that this could cause problems with stadium naming rights.
