A new line of flagship robot vacuums was launched by Roborock at the Consumer Electronics Show. The big new feature of the S8 Series is dual roller brushes, which is a departure from the norm.
The biggest problem with most robot vacuums is that they have one small brush trying to pick up all the dirt. A bristle brush can get caught up with hair.
The dual rubber roller brush system that rotates in opposite directions is what makes the robot vacuum cleaner. Most of the competition has smaller brushes. The new vacuums have two roller brushes instead of one.
It uses paddles instead of plastic nubs and they don't seem to be as long. We will have to wait to see them in person to judge their effectiveness. The new vacs have 6,000 Pa of capacity. The Pa levels of the vacuums are not published by iRobot.
The new S8 Series includes the S8 robot vacuum and mop, the S8 Plus, and the S8 Pro Ultra, all of which come with the RockDock Ultra dock.
The new S8 bots have built-in mops that will not drag a damp cloth across them, as well as an obstacle avoidance system that uses artificial intelligence. This April, the S8 Series should be released.
The S8 Pro Ultra is the top-of-the-line bot and is the next generation of the S7 MaxV Ultra that features all-dancing dock and artificial intelligence. Warm air drying to prevent mold growth on the mopping pad is one of the new features of the dock.
The S7 MaxV has 5,100 Pa of vacuum suction, while the S8 Pro vacuum has 6,000 Pa. The mopping system has been changed. The price went up, so these seem like small improvements.
The standard S8 has improved obstacle avoidance. I was impressed with the mopping prowess of the S7 when I tested it a year ago. It got tangled up with stray shoes or socks because it lacked obstacle avoidance. That is fixed by the S 8 plus. You have to clean your own mop because the S8 won't work with the Ultra dock.
The Dyad Pro is a wet-dry vacuum that can suck up spills and vacuum your carpets. According to the company, the Dyad Pro can pick up messes from as close as 1mm to the wall and it automatically adjusts cleaning power and water flow. It is not all manual labor. The Dyad Pro cleans itself after every clean up. There will be it in January.
