According to Jeremy Fowler, the Washington Commanders are going to start Taylor Heinicke against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.

In Week 17 of the season, Heinicke will take over as the starting quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Some will argue that Heinicke should be the first one to start. Washington can see how he performs in extended game action if he gets his feet wet.

Ron Rivera may want to finish with a losing record. Since the Cowboys can still claim the top seed in the conference with a win and the right results elsewhere, the Commanders can play a role of spoiler.

It would be nice to get a division rival to the wild card on the last day.

Regardless of who plays the majority of the game at quarterback, it might be time for the Commanders to part ways with him.

The writing was already on the wall because of his struggles. He has thrown for 1,755 yards and 11 touchdown in eight appearances and his quarterback rating is 28th.

It's hard to see him remaining under contract with the team through the off-season.

Starting to think Carson Wentz might not earn the $53.4M remaining on his current contract...

Even if the Pro Bowler stays on the roster, there's a good chance the team will move on to a new quarterback next year.
