Shiftall is a company that builds equipment to plunge people into virtual worlds. The Mutalk is a mouth-worn microphone that prevents your speech from being heard in the same room. Two new versions of the company's virtual reality headset are on display at the Consumer Electronics Show.
The MeganeX virtual reality headset has a 2,560 x 2,560 micro-OLED screen. The highest level of viewing experience is offered by the Panasonic- branded pancake lens and the screens. The frame is lightweight, has six degrees of freedom, and is comfortable to wear for hours at a time. It will cost you $1,699 when it launches in March and April, so you need to cough up.
There are two new accessories that the company is showing off. Haritora X Wireless is a full body tracking solution that allows you to control your torso and legs in a virtual space. The setup uses four bands around your body, one around your chest, hips, knees and ankle, which give your digital character the ability to dance and kick their way around. Similar to Sony's motion- tracking setup, this one adds bands to your wrists, ankles, and head.
The Flip VR hand controller uses lighthouse tracking to monitor the position of your hands and is one of the new innovations. Instead of being gripped, these are held to the hand by a strap across the palm. The top plate can be turned out to allow you to use other things. In the demo, a user can drink from a can without having to remove their virtual reality gear, or put it down on the floor.
Haritoria X Wireless will cost $350 in Japan but there is no word on when it will be available in the US. When we can expect to be able to drink, while in character as a VTuber, without having to drop our controller and ruin the illusion, is yet to be determined.
