The startup is trying to disrupt the building design space by giving customers modern and broader sets of features at a cheaper price. Early progress by the New York City-headquartered firm has helped it court thousands of customers.

The startup is taking a similar approach to taking on an industry that has relied on decades-old code and where cloud-based collaboration is still elusive

The industry is very backwards. It is dominated by companies that were built in the 90's. Altaf Ganihar said in an interview that the software stack is very old.

Popular building information modeling solutions have been lagging in many areas. They don't have Interoperability and need high-end computers. The concerns of architects, engineers, construction firms and industry groups have been raised in many open letters to Autodesk.

There is more than one person taking on the giant. The problem with their models is the same one that Arcol is trying to solve. Ganihar said that Snaptrude's solution is different from Arcol's because it takes a couple of years to bring their product out.

There aren't many players in a full-stack scenario according to him.

While working on a national-level project to reconstruct the UNESCO world heritage site Hampi in India, Ganihar had a terrible experience with legacy software and decided to start a new company.

The first thing he built was a tool to work with software. The engineer was working on a cloud-based design tool. He got a lot of attention when he showed his prototype at the TechCrunch Disrupt event.

The initial funding helped build a team to bring Snaptrude to reality and add companies such as WeWork and Square Yards to its list of over 6,000 customers around the world.

Unlike legacy solutions, Snaptrude works on a browser and can be used to design buildings in 3D. Real-time data can be generated to inform about the impact of changing construction size on climate and energy use. The platform is free and supports all widely used file formats.

The architecture, engineering and construction industry is being held back by outdated software systems and hasn't undergone a modern cloud disruption Collaboration between teams and specialists is needed in an industry like this. This is where Snaptrude is changing the game by giving true collaboration and access to real-world data. Prashanth Prakash said in a prepared statement that they were bullish on Snaptrude's strategy.

The startup has raised millions of dollars. The fresh funds will be used to bring product enhancements and eventually allocate money for the growth of the company. CapitalX, Thilo Konzok, and Clark Valberg were among the participants in the seed round.

There is a globally distributed workforce of 35. The engineering team is going to be slightly expanded this year.

Online collaboration tools have become a necessity for businesses and professionals in today's landscape. This vital need is being served by a suite of collaboration design tools from Snaptrude. Foundamental is excited to partner with Altaf and snaptrude to create a more collaborative world of 3D design.
