Black-and-white photos of the Moon's surface and Earth have been sent by the national space center.

Danuri, which means "Moon" in Korean, was launched on a US rocket in August of 2022.

The KARI said in a statement that the images were taken from less than 75 miles over the Moon.

The images and videos will be used to find a landing site for the moon in 2032.

The center said that Danuri is circling the moon.

The lunar terrain will be mapped and analysed next month as part of the scientific mission.

The technology will be used to transmit photos and videos to Earth.

Danuri's achievements have been hailed as a "historical moment" by the president.
