In the wake of House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy's (Calif.) failure to win reelection, former President Trump lashed out at Senate Minority LeaderMitch McConnell and his wife.

Trump said that there is so much turmoil in the Republican Party that it's due to McConnell and the RINOs.

The statement is the latest example of Trump attacking McConnell and his wife, who last month denounced the former president for using a racist nickname for her. In his most recent statement, Trump repeated the nickname.

The former president made a comment after the House adjourned without a winner.

Hakeem Jeffries, a Democrat from New York, came out ahead of McCarthy, a Republican from California, in all three rounds of voting to take the top leadership spot.

There were 19 Republicans who voted against McCarthy in the first two votes.

Trump initially tried to help McCarthy get the votes he needed, but wouldn't say if he'd continue to support the lawmaker after he lost the last three votes.

The process will continue until a nominee gets a majority of the votes when the House returns on Wednesday.

Trump dislikes McConnell and his former transportation secretary.
